Introducing the Child Helpline 1325: A Lifeline for Fijian Youth
Operated by the Ministry of Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation, the Child Helpline 1325 is a 24/7 toll-free service dedicated to listening to and supporting children in need. Manned by professional counselors, the helpline provides guidance and ensures children receive the help they deserve. Whether a child needs advice, reassurance, or intervention, 1325 is always ready to listen.
Meet Charlie the Turtle: A Friendly Face for Fijian Youth
To make reaching out less intimidating, the Transformational team developed Charlie the Turtle, a friendly and relatable 3D mascot. Charlie invites children to seek support when life becomes tough, embodying a message of hope and courage. His approachable design encourages kids to connect, knowing they are not alone.
The Power of Music: Reinforcing the 1325 Helpline Number
Music plays a crucial role in making the helpline memorable. Rob Greaney from the Transformational team composed a catchy song featuring vocals by Olivia Foa’i, known for her work on Disney’s Moana soundtrack. The song reinforces the toll-free number 1325, making it easy for children to remember in times of need.
An Overwhelming Response: The Power of Charlie the Turtle
The initiative’s success surpassed expectations. Three animations featuring Charlie not only boosted the helpline’s visibility but also led to a significant surge in calls. Children across Fiji quickly embraced Charlie’s message and his dance! The Charlie dance, showcased in the animations, became a fun and uplifting trend among Fijian youth, creating a shared sense of connection and support.
